After high school, Nicki Minaj started performing as a backup singer for local new York city rappers. Dirty Money CEO found her Myspace page online where she posted videos of herself rapping and immediately signed her to his label. This connection lead her to Lil' Wayne, a famous rapper, who collaborated with her on multiple songs.
In 2010 she released her first single, two months later she won “Best hip-hop female” and the BET awards. Later in 2010, she released her first album “Pink Friday”. She continued making music by herself and collaborations.
In 2012, she became a lot more known. Later that year, Nicki was offered to be a judge on American Idol for their 12th season. She also performed with Madonna at the halftime show at the Super Bowl that year. While doing all of that, she also managed to create and release 2 albums in 2012 as well.
